About Rick
Rick Arneson grew up sailing on the waters of San Diego, and learned to race through the junior program at the San Diego Yacht Club. Starting in 8-foot Naples Sabots, he later transitioned into larger dinghies and keelboats, winning championships at the club, regional, district, state, and national levels. As a teen, he match-raced 12-meter yachts at the World Scholar-Athlete Games, won the gold medal in the Laser class at the A.A.U. Junior Olympics, and founded a competitive sailing team at Pepperdine University. He then brought his experience to coaching, working with Stanford University, Orange Coast College, and UC Irvine, as well as various club and high school sailing teams. As a longtime competitor in the International Snipe Class, he has been a member of the U.S. team at multiple World and Western Hemisphere Snipe Championships. He has also been a marketing professional in a range of industries, and a contributing writer to Sailing World and various other sailing publications. He holds B.S. and M.B.A. degrees from Pepperdine University.
